Pat’s monographs are scholarly works that have been adopted for continuing education self-study by nurses and health professionals. Her first, The Principles of Vacuum and Its Use in the Clinical Environment, won Pat her first Award of Excellence from the New England Chapter of the American Medical Writers Association. Ohio Medical, who published the monograph, continues to offer it online as the definitive Work describing the scientific principles of suction (the clinical application of vacuum), the physics relating to using this ubiquitous clinical tool, and potential hazards clinicians must keep in mind.
Her other two Works are Understanding Chest Drainage and Managing Chest Drainage. The latter has been used by thousands of nurses nationwide as part of their hospital-based critical care nursing training or orientation courses.
